Tour Ice Sculptures in Uptown

Check it out before they melt! The sixth-annual Uptown Westerville Ice Sculpture tour begins at 5 p.m. Friday, December 20. Each block in Uptown features a holiday-themed ice sculptures the weekend before Christmas. Professional ice artists fashion the sculptures, which are sponsored by a number of community partners. A great way to pair last-minute holiday shopping with uniquely convenient selfie stations.

Bright Lights are Beautiful Backgrounds

Speaking of selfies, there are plenty of wonderful sites to take your holiday pictures in Westerville this month. Everal Barn and Homestead, listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and hundreds of trees are lit with white holiday lights. The original farm and barn was constructed in the 1880s, and its holiday decorations showcase its beauty and charm. From there, don’t miss the historic Westerville Star hanging high above State St. in Uptown, and the decorated holiday tree in the City Hall Courtyard. There’s no shortage of spaces to get that perfect 2019 family photo.

Help Police Help Others

The Westerville Division of Police will again “Fill-a-Cruiser” with non-perishable food items for holiday donation. On Saturday, December 14 from 10 AM – 1 PM, officers will park their cruisers at Marc’s (111 Huber Village Blvd.) and Walmart (50 E. Schrock Rd.) to collect food for families in need. All donations will be taken to the Westerville Area Resource Ministry (WARM), a food, resource and job service agency. Find out more at www.warmwesterville.org.

Have an ‘Evening at the North Pole’

Santa will be in Westerville for dinner on December 12 and 13, and you’re invited. Santa’s elves will serve a light meal with a special dessert and beverages while the Big Guy shares stories from the North Pole. Holiday crafts and a sing-a-long will get everyone in the holiday spirit. The event goes from 6-7:30 p.m. and registration is required.

Ring in the New Year in Style

Looking for a fun and stylish way to welcome a new decade on New Year’s Eve? Check out the still-new Marriott Renaissance at Westar Place. Get the party started at the patio fireplace, and come inside for cocktails and dinner at the 21 Bar and Restaurant. For families with little ones, celebrate New Year’s Eve preschool-style with crafts, entertainment and a countdown at noon. ‘Noonlite Madness’ is an annual event on December 31 at the Westerville Community Center bringing family-friendliness to the New Year celebration.
