MySOLE: Art+History

Friday, February 22 from 6pm- 9pm 
BurgerIM, 121 South High Street, Columbus

MySOLE is hosting a black history themed paint and sip. Attendees will be painting an African Elephant, a symbol of strength and power. Tickets for the event will include painting materials and a drink ticket. They can be purchased here.


Keys to Black Wealth

Saturday, February 23 from 5pm- 8pm
BurgerIM, 121 South High Street, Columbus

This financial wellness event is dedicated to the economical advancement of black people, wherever they may be. There will be a moderated discussion on how to manage life insurance, credit/debt, taxes and much more. There will be a panel of experts with decades of experience in the financial sector. You will not want to miss this informative event.

A Celebration of Black History

Friday, February 15 at 11am
City Council Chambers, 90 W. Broad Street, Columbus

The Columbus City Council is hosting their first ever celebration of African American history. The ceremony will celebrate the accomplishments of African Americans throughout history. Keynote Speaker: Dr. Charles E. Booth, Senior Pastor of Mt. Olivet Baptist Church.

Every Tuesday at noon in February
1 Capitol Square, Columbus

Every Tuesday at noon during Black History Month, there will be interpreters portraying prominent African Americans throughout history in the Atrium of the Ohio Statehouse. The programs are free and open to the public. If you can’t make it during the day, The Ohio Channel will be streaming it live.

Black Fashion Expo 2019

Stated simply the event will be a trade show featuring a fashion market place, where guest are encouraged to shop, network and educated themselves on an array of businesses. The event’s purpose is to unite and empower minority communities through Columbus and the surrounding cities. 

Origins of Hip Hop

Thursday, February 28 at 6pm
Martin Luther King Branch, 1467 E Long St, Columbus

Hear the history of Hip Hop music and its positive contributions to the community with live break dancing and music. Ages 12-17.

Black History Month Celebration Concert

Sunday, February 24 from 2pm- 3pm
Columbus Metropolitan Library Main, 96 South Grant Avenue, Columbus

Join Urban Strings at the Main Library for a Black History Celebration concert. Also featuring the Otterbein Gospel Choir, directed by founder LaJoyce Cain.
