The Weekend Lookout: 9 events you need to know about
We’re just a little past the midway mark in June, and if you blink, you’re going to miss the rest of it. We’ve made it through another year of the Columbus Arts Festival and our voices are still a bit raspy from yelling, “Yas, queen!” at Pride all last weekend, but nonetheless, we trudge forward. Weekend warriors, this is your weekly battle cry.
Friday
Columbus Food And Wine Festival @ Battelle Riverfront Park
This two-day festival hits on everything we love: free admission, food, and wine. With both local and national wineries showing up, featured food trucks like Dave’s Caribbean Food, and ways to keep the little ones entertained; this festival should offer plenty to keep you busy.
20th Annual Easton Art Affair @ Easton Town Center
This three-day event is one part art gallery and one part a street fair. Whether you’re looking to just spend your afternoon outdoors chowing down, or trying to upgrade your wall decor, this festival’s extended hours will make sure you don’t miss out.
Free Outdoor Movie Screening: Mary Poppins @ The Columbus Commons
Looking for a way to get the kids out of the house for the night? Look no further! Head down to the Commons on Friday for a screening of Mary Poppins at 8 p.m.
Saturday
Ohio Wings And Beer Festival @ Ohio Expo Center & State Fair
With brews from places like Wolf’s Ridge and Columbus Brew Company and wings from places like Peacan Penny’s and Red Door BBQ, the Ohio Wings and Beer Festival is the place to be to satisfy all your gluttonous cravings.

Gin Jam @ Watershed Kitchen & Distillery
Gin is the perfect liquor for summer; it’s light, refreshing, and pairs well with a variety of mixers. Watershed is celebrating all things gin this weekend, and you should too.
Columbus Destroyers vs. Philadelphia Soul @ Nationwide Arena
The Destroyers are back, and dammit they are trying. Sure, we might be last in the league right now, but that doesn’t mean we can’t play spoiler to everyone else’s season! Let’s take some of the shine away from sunny Philadelphia. (That’s an It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia reference, we at 614now are more than aware that Philly is not, in fact, a notoriously sunny spot.)
Sunday
Outlaw Music Festival @ Nationwide Arena
Just a day after the Destoryers hold down Nationwide, it will be transformed into a concert hall for Willie Nelson and his pack of musicians. The Outlaw Music Festival is a mix of country, rock, and anything else within that vein. Yee’s will be hawed, ya’ll.
Sunlight Market on Gay St.
This monthly outdoor market features music, sidewalk vendors, plus brick-and-mortar businesses with extended Sunday hours. Enjoy a Sunday stroll through the sights and sounds, and check out all that the Sunlight Market has to offer.
Vegan Street Food Pop-Up Market @ Ching Ter Maitreya Temple
It’s an invasion of plant-based dishes! This pop-up market is jam packed with vegan vendors including Can’t Believe It’s Vegan, Momma Can Cook, and Too Good Eats. Vegans and vegetarians, don’t miss this chance to finally not have to eat a meal made up of only sides!
