New restaurant brings new flavors to Columbus

Regina Fox

An authentic Persian restaurant recently opened its doors in Northland, bringing flavors of western Asia. Caspian Restaurant is now open at 4989 Cleveland Ave. in the former location of Zaika Gyro & Kebabs.

The made-from-scratch menu offers dishes rarely seen in the Columbus area: Gheimeh Bademjon (fried eggplant and split peas cooked in a tomato sauce, dried lime), Ash Reshteh (herbs, pinto beans, lentil, peas, noodle, kashk), Kookoo Sabzi (mixed herbs, garlic, onion, egg), and Kookoo Sib-Zamini (mixed potatoes, onion, egg).

More familiar dishes like kebab varieties, baklava, hummus, and even a hamburger are also offered. Nemati also offers catering and meal planning.

Chef and owner Victoria Nemati told This Week News she believes Caspian is in a prime location because of the area’s Arabian people who know and love Persian cuisine.

Caspian Restaurant is open from 12pm- 9pm Tuesdays through Saturdays, 12pm- 8pm Sundays, and closed Mondays. Visit caspiancatering.com.
