The ongoing search for a missing community activist has reached a heartbreaking conclusion, as a body recovered from the Scioto River on Saturday by Columbus police detectives and dive team members was identified as Amber Evans.
The 28-year-old Evans had been missing since January 28. Her vehicle was found near the Scioto Mile shortly after her disappearance, prompting investigators to focus their search on the surrounding area.
Evans was a graduate of The Ohio State University and Kent State University. She served as executive director of the Juvenile Justice Coalition in Columbus, and was a leading voice in the struggle for justice in the community. Our thoughts are with her friends and family during this challenging time.
