How to help the homeless during coldest temps in 3 years

With the Polar Vortex expected to blow temperatures as low as -40 degrees into central Ohio Wednesday morning, many people and animals will be left out in the cold, literally.

Local organization Make-A-Day is asking Columbus to help those people survive the coldest air since February 2015.

“The Polar Vortex is coming today and over 50,000 homeless men women and children and over 100,000 stray animals are at risk of death,” wrote Make-A-Day on Facebook. “The shelters will not be able to house everyone. But YOU can make a difference and show our community how caring and resilient Columbus is!!

They encouraging the community to donate old coats, hats, gloves, scarves, and anything that can help keep someone warm to their local homeless shelter. These items can also be dropped off at the Make-A-Day headquarters at 629 N. High St. 4th Floor Suite 8.
