Have you been to “12 best new restaurants in Columbus?”

If you’ve been paying attention to the local news even a little bit, you’ve probably noticed that Columbus has gained dozens of new bars and restaurants in the past year. We encourage you to check them all out, but unless you have unlimited time and funds, that’s quite unreasonable.

Instead, refer to this list of the 12 best new bars and restaurants in Columbus that local blogger Beth Stallings of Sixonefork put together for national food and booze publication Eater.com.

1) Lupo

LUPO  is the new venture from La Tavola founders Rick & Krista Lopez, featuring carefully prepared Mediterranean dishes, paired with wines, cocktails, beers, and eclectic aperitivos.

2) Preston’s: A Burger Joint

Preston’s is a Midwestern burger joint from Chefs Matthew Heaggans and Catie Randazzo. The beef is sourced locally and almost everything is made from scratch.

3) High Bank Distillery Co

High Bank Distillery Company was founded by four partners and Columbus residents: Jordan Helman, Adam Hines, Calvin Jones and Jeff Ireland. High Bank’s high end spirits are complimented by its elevated cocktail and food experience.


4) BrewDog Franklinton

The Scottish brewery’s first establishments away from the motherland are right here in Columbus, including BrewDog Franklinton and its amazing rooftop bar. Good food, good beer, good atmosphere.

5) Service Bar

Service Bar is a cocktail bar featuring modern American fare with a nostalgic twist. This new venture comes to us from Middle West Spirits, Ohio’s award-winning craft distillery located in the Short North Arts District.

6) The Lox Bagel Shop

Kevin Crowley, former partner at Northstar Cafe, took his expertise in a new direction with Lox Bagels, serving hand rolled, boiled and baked bagels and bagel sandwiches in the Short North.

7) Harvey & Eds

Harvey & Eds is a Cameron Mitchell restaurant, so quality and service are a guarantee. You can also expect the food, beverages, and ambiance of a classic New York Jewish delicatessen.

8) Veritas

Veritas is a very unique restaurant that specializes in distinctive, delectable small plates. The bar program offers fine wines, spirits, and pre-Prohibition-style cocktails.


9) The Citizens Trust

The Citizens Trust is a bar by the creators of Veritas, and also located right by Veritas. This beautiful bar’s unique cocktails and architecture is unmatched in Columbus.

10) Antiques on High

Take a walk on the wild side at Antiques on High to enjoy some sour and wild ales in the Brewery District. This is the sister brewery of Seventh Son Brewing.

11) Ambrose & Eve

Classic dinner party fare with updated ingredients and techniques from chefs and friends Catie Randazzo and Matt Heaggans—the same masterminds who brought us Preston’s!

12) Comune

This vegan/vegetarian restaurant is part of the revitalization of Parsons Avenue. Comune presents plant-forward cuisine that is flavorful, satisfying, and sharable in an inviting atmosphere.
