Tanking Tuttle? Two brands pull out of NW Columbus mall

Both Sears and Starbucks have pulled out of Tuttle Mall.

The Sears at Tuttle will close in March, as will the Polaris location.

Liquidation is expected to begin in two weeks.

These were the last two remaining central Ohio stores to fall in a domino effect that’s been happening around the country.

Many anchor stores including JCPenney, Elder-Beerman, and Macy’s have been disappearing for years.

Unless you completely missed the writing on the wall, the Sears closure comes as no surprise.

However, the Starbucks closure, slated for January 17, is a bit more unexpected.

The coffee giant recently opened up a drive-thru in the old Sear’s Sears Auto Service Center beside Tuttle.

Was there a specific reason Starbucks wanted to get out of the mall?

Some folks in the Reddit community believe it’s because Tuttle is tanking.
