Covering many vibrant communities across central Ohio, the 614 is so much more than just Columbus. Welcome to the ‘Burb Breakdown, an ongoing series highlighting the unique character of neighborhoods from across this sprawling metro area we call home. In the first installment of our series, we turn our attention to the lovely city of Bexley.

Bexley is home to some of the state’s finest institutions of higher learning and internationally-known authors alike. The historic Columbus suburb is also known for its many impressive architectural landmarks, like the Drexel Theater the the Ohio Governors’ mansion.

From diverse restaurants to verdant parks and engaging civic events, there’s so much to discover in Bexley. Here are five ways to help you get out and explore everything Bexley has to offer this fall!

Have a Taste of Bexley | October 14, 6:00 PM – 8:30 PM | 2010 East Broad Street

Taste of Bexley brings area restaurants and food providers together under one roof for an evening of culinary delights. This event is a great way to sample that Bexley restaurant you’ve been meaning to try for months, along with others you might never have heard of! Enjoy a Pumpkin Donut from Cherbourg Bakery | 541 S Drexel Ave

Nothing screams fall like pumpkins, right? Cherbourg Bakery is a gluten-free, nut-free, dye-free bakery, trailblazing their way through the Ohio bakery scene with locations in Bexley and Cincinnati. One of Cherbourg’s most iconic treats this time of year is their pumpkin donut—a cake-based donut with a glaze on top that is to die for. The spices and flavors compliment each other so well, you might even have to order a pour over to wash it all down. Cherbourg Bakery locally sources their beans seasonally between One Line Coffee, Mission Coffee, and Roosevelt Coffeehouse.

Enjoy Fall Foliage Throughout Streets of Bexley

The City of Bexley was designated as an arboretum in 2012, meaning they have a whole lot of trees. While you can certainly enjoy the fall foliage in one of the town’s numerous parks, you can also take a stroll down just about any street to soak in all of the fall color and bask in some historic architecture. Better yet, grab a cup of espresso-based magic from Kittie’s Cafe to take with you.
