You may be cursing the snow when you’re scrapping off your windshield in the morning, but the upside is you can finally go sledding (or at least take your kids).
We’ve created a list of ten hills that you can enjoy this winter. These slopes are weather permitting so make sure you check the parks’ pages for updates.
301 W Pacemont Rd, Columbus
This is a good choice for those who like a little adventure but want to play it safe. The hills are long but manageable. There’s limited parking so if you live nearby, walking may be an option.
Wyman Woods Park
1515 Goodale Blvd, Grandview Heights
This park has something for everyone with some gentle hills and some that are pretty steep. And there are restrooms! There’s a Stauf’s nearby so you can warm up with a cup of coffee or hot chocolate after the fun!
Battelle Darby Creek
1775 Darby Creek Dr, Galloway
Not for the faint of heart, Battelle Darby Creek is known for having one of the largest hills in the area. Not only is it super fun, the steep hill provides some exercise on you walk up.
Glen Oak Park
7126 Blue Holly Dr, Lewis Center
Not only does this park have a nice hill, there’s also an ice skating pond nearby. You can have hours of fun!
Whetstone Park of Roses
3901 N High St, Columbus
There are two designated hills but plenty of other spots to sled. Whetstone Library and Rec center are usually open so you can warm up during breaks.

Highbanks Metro Park
9466 Columbus Pike, Lewis Center
With a small and large hill, this park has options. The larger one is pretty steep but the bales of hay at the end of the slope will protect you from flying out of control.
Olentangy River Parklands
600 W Wilson Bridge Rd, Worthington
This park offers a variety of slopes, so it’s suitable for all ages. There’s an especially steep forested hill, which isn’t recommended for safety but still used by daredevils looking for an adrenaline rush.
Scioto Audobon Park
400 W Whittier St, Columbus
Did you know about this sledding hill? Apparently, it hasn’t been visited much this season yet!
1069 Jaeger St, Columbus
This park offers manageable hills for younger kids. Located in historic German Village, you can enjoy the beautiful scenery as you sled. There’s a good amount of free parking as well as metered parking on the street
