A Franklin County Dog Shelter program gives local homeless dogs the gift of a family for the holidays.

In its second year, the Holiday Sleepover initiative gives Central Ohio families an opportunity to foster a dog for a few days over Christmas and/or New Year’s when the shelter shuts down.

Not only does the program offer an opportunity for the animals to experience life outside the shelter, it also gives locals extra companionship during what can be a difficult time of year for some.

Each participating family is provided a gift bag from BarkBox, food, any medicine they may need, and a “report card” to brag about what a good girl/boy they were. The dogs can be adopted if the foster person/family simply can’t live without them, or they can returned after the sleepover.

Anyone interested in either program should email [email protected] for more information.
