Get your croc-tail on at adults-only oasis at Zoombezi Bay

A new adults-only attraction at Zoombezi Bay is now open—and at just the right time, as adults, especially parents, may need the respite.

Croctail Creek features a swim-up bar, lounge pool with in-water seating, and a 700-foot-long lazy river with heated water.

Zoombezi Bay is the waterpark formerly known as Wyandot Lake and which is adjacent to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium. COVID-19 halted construction of their $2.5 million addition in April and May, but that delay may have had a small upside.

“We are pleased that, despite the challenges, this project was completed early enough in the season so that adults within our supportive community can enjoy Croctail Creek, especially at a time when a break is well-deserved and just might be needed and appreciated,” said Zoombezi Bay president and CEO Tom Stalf.

For those in need of a break, the just-opened Sandbar will offer five varieties of daiquiris, served in souvenir yard bottles as well as rum punch, hard seltzers, and 12 different draft beers.

This is not the first time Zoombezi Bay has featured an adults-only venue, but the earlier iteration fell victim to space constraints.

“While the former adults-only lazy river was popular with our guests, we knew that we could greatly enhance the experience and raise it to our current expectations. There is no other adults-only experience of this kind in the Midwest.” said Anthony Sabo Zoombezi Bay’s vice president of waterpark operations and guest services.

Visitors are being asked to observe the safety protocols in place due to the coronavirus pandemic.
