One of Ohio’s “9 Most Abandoned Places” is just 30 minutes from Columbus
Are you a connoisseur of all things creepy? Do you get a rush from ruined buildings? Love the feeling of things forgotten? If so, we’ve got the perfect abandoned architecture adventure for you.
Carpenter’s Mill, or Bieber Mill depending on your Google search, is located just 30 minutes north of Columbus, and appeared in Only In Your State’s recent list of “9 Most Abandoned Places in Ohio.”
“Very little is left of this early 1800s mill town in Delaware County,” wrote Only In Your State. “The ruins of the old mill, which was built in 1840, sit along the Olentangy River in Delaware near the Ohio Wesleyan University.”

Ohio Department of Natural Resources acquired the mill property in 1923 as part of the effort to preserve wooded corridors along the Olentangy, according to the Delaware County Historical Society. Years of neglect have lead to the mill’s current state of decay.
Intrigued? Carpenter’s Mill’s is located at 4919 Chapman Rd #4801, Delaware. Keep trespassing laws in mind, and remember to observe from afar if necessary.
