Organizations are finding increasingly creative ways to welcome visitors online, but there are also opportunities to get out and about while still observing COVID-19 safety protocols, as is evident from this week’s events calendar. 

Every Tuesday and Friday (Sept. 11 and 15), Pearl Market—The Pearl Market is a farmer’s market full of fresh foods, and it’s open through Oct. 16. Sept. 11, Fitness Yoga on the Square—Fitness enthusiasts can enjoy socially distanced, outdoor yoga at Easton Town Center at 8:30 a.m. 

Sept. 11, ProMusica SummerFEST—A 7:00 p.m. show at Headley Park Drive-In in Gahanna will feature George Walker’s “Lyric”, Mozart’s Divertimento K. 136 “Salzburg”, Max Richter’s “On the Nature of Daylight”, and Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik”. Walker is the first African American to have won the Pulitzer Prize in music.

Sept. 11-Sept. 13, Hot Times Community Arts & Music Festival—This year’s event will feature live online performances by Gaye Adegbalola, Tony Monaco, Bobby Floyd, Donna Mogavero, Michael Vander Does, Uptowne Buddha, Tracy Christoper’s Parade, and Tree No Leaves. Sept. 11-Sept. 17, Free Comic Book Summer—Laughing Ogre on High Street is one of several comic book stores participating in Free Comic Book summer. Publishers are making around six new titles available every week, so check with the store before heading over and grabbing the free merch.

Sept. 11-Sept. 20, Landmarks Open Their Doors—Staffers from the Ohio History Center will be conducting a series of online tours of some of the state’s historical sites, including areas that are normally off-limits to the public. The full itinerary can be found here

Sept. 12, Chihuly Nights at Franklin Park Conservatory—See the Conservatory’s Chihuly Collection in a whole new light during Chihuly Nights, happening from 7-10 p.m. All 19 installations will be professionally lit to create a breathtaking view within the backdrop of the botanical gardens. The evenings also include an opportunity to view the historic John F. Wolfe Palm as it’s illuminated by James Turrell’s Light Raiment II, to explore the Conservatory’s biomes after dusk, and experience exhibitions including the brand new Paul Busse Garden Railway in the Grand Mallway and Bonsai on display in the Dorothy M. Davis Showhouse. The Conservatory food truck will serve a limited food menu, beer, and wine.

Sept. 12, Art Cars Parade Around Old Towne East—Like a museum exhibit on wheels, art cars will be driving throughout the Old Towne East district from 3-7 p.m.

Sept. 17, Nocterra Run Club—Runners of all abilities (which includes those walking) are meeting Thursdays outside of Columbus Running Company in Powell at 6:15 p.m. to join fellow fitness enthusiasts to travel the couple miles to the finish line at Nocterra, where they can refresh with a beer.
