Columbus animal lovers deliver so local pets don’t go hungry

On Friday, the Franklin County Dog Shelter urgently tweeted that their Community Pet Pantry was empty. This crucial local service provides food to pets whose owners are experiencing temporary financial difficulties.

The shelter hoped donors could provide them with 1,000 pounds of food over the weekend. Instead, they received closer to 4,000 pounds, a spokesperson told (614) Media.

The Community Pet Pantry will provide food to any dog owner who registers and shows proof of a legal dog license. Cats, on the other hand, are not required to register.

Those wishing to contribute can still do so through the pantry’s Amazon Wish List.

Donations can also be dropped off in person at 4340 Tamarack Blvd., and they will accept open and partially-filled bags.
