Memorial Day: to camp, or not to camp

Campgrounds have been given the go-ahead to reopen on the 21st, but with no news from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources on their campgrounds, here’s a roundup of some of the spots that will be opening for Memorial Day weekend.

Cross Creek Camping Resort

Just off of Alum Creek, Cross Creek Camping resort will be allowing campers on the 21st with some restrictions.

Rustic Knolls Campground

Located in Mt. Vernon Ohio and only 36 miles from downtown Columbus. Rustic Knolls Campground will have open campsites, with restrictions on group activity areas and visitors.

Lazy River at Granville

Lazy River at Granville is taking new reservations for campers starting May 21st with their pool set to open on the 26th.

Whispering Hills

It’s looking for something a little further away from the city. Whispering hills Jellystone Camp will be opening for memorial day with some socially distant activities available.

Sunbury KOA

North of Columbus sits the Sunbury KOA campground which will be offering access to outdoor camping spaces, but rental cabins, playgrounds and group activities will not be available.
