Don’t stop beliebin’, hold on for 2021

Justin Bieber, aka The Biebs, will NOT be coming through Columbus this year. But he may roll through in 2021.

After postponing his 45-date tour in the spring, Bieber’s team announced on Thursday that June 29, 2021, is the rescheduled date for his Schottenstein Center performance. All tickets will be honored for the rescheduled dates.

Despite the optimism of rescheduled concerts, many wonder in the midst of COVID-19, when will it be safe to see live music inside a venue like Nationwide or EXPRESS Live! or Newport Music Hall again?

Big music executives like co-founder of Lollapalooza Marc Geiger said recently that he doesn’t expect the return of music festivals until late 2021 or 2022, noting that “super-spreader” events like music festivals wouldn’t seem plausible in times of a pandemic without the safety net of a vaccination.

When reaching out to Promowest Productions for a comment, AEG Presents’ Chief Communications Officer Dennis Dennehey said, “Right now there’s not much to discuss until there’s a light at the end of the tunnel on COVID.”

So, even though the Biebs rescheduled to next June, with the everchanging COVID climate, don’t schedule off work or book the babysitter just yet: the concert may be pushed back once more. As with all things pandemic-related, it’s a waiting game.
