OSU issues travel restrictions related to coronavirus

UPDATE: According to a report from NBC4i, test results came back negative for coronavirus in the cases of two Miami University students who recently returned from a trip to China.

According to Ohio Department of Health Dr. Amy Acton, the two students are out of quarantine. There are still no confirmed cases of the virus the state of Ohio.

While the public awaits test results in the cases of two Miami University students who may have contracted coronavirus, there are still no confirmed diagnoses of the illness in Ohio. Still, The Ohio State University has issued new guidelines for faculty and students intended to decrease the likelihood of an outbreak on campus.

In accordance with guidance from the CDC and other federal agencies, Ohio State will temporarily restrict university-sponsored travel to the country of China for all faculty, staff and students—effective immediately and in place through at least March 6, per a statement from the Wexner Medical Center.

The school will also require those who travel to China for personal reasons to report their travel immediately. This mandatory reporting will allow the university to offer proper resources and immediately assist any member of the school community who may become ill.
