A local dog is saved after being stabbed in the head with a knife.

10TV reports a man called police after allegedly being attacked by two dogs. He told police he fended off one with a bottle and stabbed another with a knife.

Both dogs were taken to the Franklin County Dog Shelter & Adoption Center for care. The male dog, who was hit with the bottle, was released from the shelter without injury. The female dog, who was stabbed in the head with the knife, underwent a successful surgery.

Kaye Persinger, shelter director, told 10TV it’s a “miracle” that the female dog survived the injuries she sustained.

According to Persinger, the female dog will be designated as dangerous despite her showing no signs of aggression at the shelter. Persinger even called the dog “sweet.”

Persinger told 10TV she is confident the dog won’t hurt anyone in the future.

The man who claimed he was attacked had small puncture wounds but refused treatment.
