County fairs are on this summer, DeWine says

During his COVID-19 update today, March 11, Gov. Mike DeWine said that based upon the data the state has reviewed, he anticipates that county fairs will be able to be held across the state this year.

“We’re very excited about that,” DeWine said.

DeWine said the state will issue guidance regarding fairs today. In general, the events will be able to proceed with some limitations. In the grandstands, for example, capacity will be limited to 30%, he said. Social distancing will be required, and fairs will need to erect signs to enforce mask wearing.

“That’s the way it looks today,” DeWine said, saying that by the time the fairs come around, it could be possible that Ohio would go off its health orders.

“We just hope things continue to go well,” he said.

DeWine previously announced that when Ohio reaches 50 cases per 100,000 people for two weeks, all health orders will be lifted.
