Hilliard cafe broken into overnight; employee tips, cash stolen

Last night, Great Harvest Bread Co.’s Hilliard location was broken into and burglarized.

According to a Facebook post about the incident, the eatery–which is located at 5311 Westpointe Plaza Dr.–was broken into just after 5:30 a.m. yesterday morning.

The burglar made out with several hundred dollars in cash.

At least a portion of the money stolen was earmarked as employee tips.

“You stole the tips that may have made the difference in one of our employees being able to take a bus or Uber to her Lupus appointment,” the post reads. “You stole the trust of a good man that moved to this country to build this business for his family. You stole the peace of mind that our epileptic baker can show up for work at her regular 3 a.m. and be safe.”

Good Harvest Baking Co. has remained open throughout the incident.
