Popular Franklinton live mural-painting festival returning this fall

When Scrawl 16 descends upon Franklinton in two months, it will launch an all-new emerging artist program and leave behind two permanent murals created by local visual artists. 

The arts festival is slated to be held from noon to 10 p.m. Oct. 15 and from noon to 6 p.m. Oct. 16 at 400 Square. Featuring immersive mobile murals, the festival will also introduce Young Emerging Artists! (YEA!), a program dedicated to new emerging artists. 

A product of the Franklinton Arts District, Scrawl is in its 16th year and showcases a variety of visual artists from the Columbus area. Artists create their own large-scale paintings throughout the course of the festival, welcoming onlookers.

Goods from local artists and vendors will be available for purchase at 400 West Rich studios, in addition to Show & Sell and Scrawl Marketplace. While artists will be showcasing their talent, kids will also be able to take advantage of the artistic energy with activities at Scrawl Jr. 

Food trucks will be on site, as well as DJ sets and breakdancing exhibitions.
