Ultra popular Chicago-based hot dog and burger chain eyeing Ohio locations

As a native Chicagoan, Portillo’s was always the holy grail of fast food in my family. From the atmosphere to the quality to the sheer variety of offerings (hot dogs, Burgers and cake shakes), it was a bonafide dinner destination.

And now, we here in Central Ohio will likely be able to experience the lauded Chicago-based brand ourselves.

According to multiple reports, including a National Restaurant News story, Portillo’s CEO and President Michael Osanloo said the company is planning nine new restaurants in 2023, and is considering Ohio as a likely new market next year.

Portillo’s went public late last year, prompting even more expansion across the country.

And while this isn’t outright confirmation, it sure seems like the next best thing. Currently, there have been no announcements made relative to a potential opening date or location of a Portillo’s in Columbus. Portillo’s did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
