Join the TikTok trend and learn how to make your own cartoon cakes!

The trend of 2D cartoon cakes has taken the baking world by storm since the end of 2022. With over 117,000 posts on Instagram and 124 million views on TikTok, the trend often creates impressive photo ops of cakes that look like they must be plucked from an animated series, but are in fact totally real and unedited.

Creating a cartoon cake for yourself and your little ones is easier than you think, as well. 

On Thursday, April 13, join Our Cupcakery in Dublin for a class on decorating comic cakes. The cost of the class is $69 and guests can add on gluten-free options for an additional $25. The 6-inch layer cake will be torted, filled and frosted using the unique Faux fondant smoothing technique.

Participants will be taught to pipe designs to look like cartoon art, which comes in large part from the strategic placing of black lines as cake “outlines”.. The Comic Cake class is open to adults and teens 13 years and older. For those interested, an intermediate decorating kit is available for purchase at the time of registration. The $25 kit includes an Icer, 2-D, 3 tips, 2 couplers, cake smoother, decorating comb, bag clip, 4 disposable bags, and an icing spatula.
