You can drop your old pumpkins from the top of a fire department crane this weekend

Jack McLaughlin

While we do have to wait nearly a full year for Halloween to come back, the Great Pumpkin Drop is no small consolation prize.

The annual event, held by the Marysville Fire Division, occurs every year on the weekend after Halloween, and involves dropping hundreds of pumpkins from the top of a fire department crane.

This year’s Pumpkin Drop will be held Nov. 5 from 1-4 p.m., it will take place at Decker Fire Station 271, which is located at 16300 County Home Rd. in Marysville.

BROUGHT TO YOU BY

Previous years have seen several hundred pumpkins dropped (sometimes into a barrel of water below the crane, sometimes directly onto the asphalt, causing them to splatter).

The event will also feature a fire truck for kids to explore, a bounce house and treat for sale. All proceeds will benefit Marysville Blessing in a Backpack.
