Longtime, beloved, local meteorologist dies at 68
After four decades on air, a dedicated meteorologist for NBC4 has died, according to his family.
Bob Nunnally stepped back from his position as Columbus’ NBC affiliate WCMH weatherman back in 2022 after announcing he in the process of beating pancreatic cancer. He then announced that he successfully beat cancer, but had complications during his recovery, according to The U.S. Sun.
Days after entering hospice care on Friday, Bob Nunnally passed away on Sunday morning, December 8.
Nunnally’s family is asking for privacy during this difficult time.

He started his journalism career back in 1977, broadcasting at iHeartMedia’s Columbus radio station WNCI, then moved to WSNY in 1983. From there, he transitioned to a substitute weathercaster for NBC in 1994, eventually coming to NBC4 full-time after that. For the past 40 years, Nunnally has been helping us Central Ohioans plan our days and weeks around the weather.
His warm demeanor will surely be missed.
“Bob’s charismatic and endearing nature made a lasting and positive impact on so many central Ohio viewers,” NBC4 Vice President and General Manager Larry Cottrill said in a statement on NBC4. “His professionalism and dedication to central Ohioans, along with his limitless kindness to everyone who interacted with him, is an inspiration to us all.”
