Buckeye football greats hit on life after football, season picks in the September issue of ‘(614) Magazine’

Jack McLaughlin

If you’re a college football fan in any capacity, chances are you remember where you were when the first national champion of the College Football Playoff era was crowned.

I was holed up in a cheap hotel in rural Virginia, en route to visit old friends. But I remember watching Cardale Jones–who was wrapping up one of the most magical quarterback runs in recent memory–sling the ball down the field, and I knew from the jump the Buckeyes would run away with it.

The newest issue of (614) Magazine sits down with the star of that game (and that college football postseason), Cardale Jones, alongside seven other Buckeyes greats, including Braxton Miller, Jim Tressel and more to understand who they are off the field, and after football. Whether they’re currently family men, farmers, business owners or even politicians, they are, each one, leaving their mark on Columbus without shoulder pads or a helmet on. And we want to show you how.

Additionally, our new issues features plenty of great food coverage, including a list of game day chicken wings, a Columbus classic spot revitalized and much more. We rounded this issue out with our Fall Arts Guide, an insert on ways to help fight hunger from Mid-Ohio Food Collective and even a feature on how the “oldest baby in the world” was born right here in Central Ohio.
