Former Columbus sheep farm being converted into city park with nature center, hiking trails

A former sheep farm on Columbus’ Northwest Side will soon become a city park.

The 58-acre plot of land, which is located on W. Case Road, just east of the intersection of Sawmill Road and W. Case Road, will be known as West Case Park.

According to Columbus Recreation & Parks, the new park will feature bird blinds, a “natural play meadow,” outdoor classrooms, and even a wetland. The city believes the new park will become “one of the major greenspaces in northwest Columbus.”

The land for West Case Park was formerly home to the OSU Agricultural Extension Sheep Farm, which was located at 2425 W. Case Rd. The site was purchased by the city for a new community park in 2019.

Currently, Columbus Recreation & Parks plan to open the park to the public in the fall of 2027.
