15 year old bar says closing is inevitable if business doesn’t pick up; ‘We just can’t make ends meet anymore’

A neighborhood bar that helps the community is now asking for the community’s help.

Bossy Grrl’s Pin Up Joint, which has been a mainstay since 2013 at 2598 N. High St., has built an inclusive space, known for craft cocktails, drag performances, and body positivity. But things haven’t been going well for them financially, “for some time,” they announced on Facebook.

“With patrons drinking less and product costing more, we just can’t make ends meet anymore,” Bossy said in their announcement.

In a “Hail Mary,” the bar hired a marketing company in an “attempt to turn things around, but progress has been slow, and if we’re not able to get the influx of business we were hoping for, closing is inevitable.”

Bossy Grrl is asking that if anyone has benefitted from their positive impact on our community in any way, if they would consider helping them out so that they have the time they need to at least go out gracefully and give their staff and performers “plenty of time to make arrangements for their needs.”

They’re currently taking venmo donations (@bossygrrls) or Cashapp donations ($bossygrrls) if you’d like to help them stay afloat. 

“Thank you to everyone who’s been with us over the years. We’re not sure what the near future brings, but we hope it includes you,” their announcement concluded.
