20,000 square foot Giant Eagle Market District coming to prominent Columbus development
Franklinton’s The Peninsula Development will be home to Columbus’ newest Giant Eagle Market District store.
Yesterday, Downtown Columbus, Inc. announced that the grocery store concept will be a part of The Peninsula Phase II, with a 20,000 square-foot storefront slated to open at the corner of Belle Street and Broad Street.
The new store will occupy the first floor of a mixed-use building, which will also contain more than 200 residential units above it.

“From a surface parking lot to a full-service grocery shopping experience, we’re thrilled about the investment Giant Eagle is making in the Central Ohio community,” Franklin County Commission President Erica Crawley said in a press release. “This investment brings new opportunity to an area that has long lacked grocery options, fostering community well-being and driving economic development.”
Construction on the building is scheduled to begin in 2026.
