22,000 pounds of contaminated meat recalled in Ohio

For all you brat lovers, this news could just be…the wurst. (Thank you, I’m here all day!)
The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced a recall on April 5 of 22,672 lbs of Johnsonville’s Cheddar Bratwurst product.
Two customers complained that they found hard plastic in their bratwurst. Johnsonville issued a voluntary recall, stating that it could be contaminated with foreign material, “specifically hard plastic.”

The affected products have the package code B9F0D and were produced on February 5, 2025. They were shipped to grocery stores in Ohio, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Tennessee, Virginia, and Wisconsin.
While that packaging date is from months ago, the FSIS is concerned that consumers have frozen the product and will continue to consume it.
Last year, Johnsonville recalled 35,430 pounds of kielbasa sausage that were potentially contaminated with pieces of rubber. Over a decade ago, their turkey sausage with cheddar was also recalled due to pieces of rubber gloves being found in a batch.
