24,000 pounds of meat sold at Ohio Walmarts and elsewhere recalled due to potential contamination
The Ohio Department of Health, as well as the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Services, is urging customers to look closely at their refrigerators and/or freezers.
Kayem Foods Inc. is recalling approximately 24,173 pounds of their ready-to-eat chicken sausage products after customers reported finding pieces of plastic in them.

This chicken sausage was produced on June 28 of this year with the following details on the package: 11-oz. vacuum-packed packages containing four pieces of “ALL NATURAL al fresco CHICKEN SAUSAGE SWEET APPLE with Vermont made syrup” with lot code “179” and “USE/FRZ BY” date “OCT 01 2025.”
The chicken sausage was shipped to 26 states, including here in Ohio. Among the nationwide retailers, Walmart and Sam’s Clubs are some of them.
“Consumers who have purchased these products are urged to not consume them,” said FSIS. There have been no confirmed reports of an injury due to the consumption of these products.
