50 year old local bakery closes
A charming bakery known for its old-school (or should we say, old-world) charm has closed their doors.
After their building went up for sale in April, Old World Bakery posted on Facebook that there would be new owners as of June. “The new owners are very nice and they are quite excited to begin making DOUGHNUTS for you to enjoy. I will help them for 2 weeks, showing them whatever they care to learn, and maybe get to learn a little as well. They already have 2 bakeries so you are in good hands.” That’s the last thing Old World Bakery has posted.

However, it looks like we’ll have to find somewhere else that makes beehives, paczkis, and homemade breads, as My Old World Bakery’s storefront at 962 Demorest Rd. is completely empty, their phone number has been disconnected, and Google shows it’s permanently closed.
The past owner was in charge of creating beautiful pastries and doughnuts for 24 years, but the bakery has been a staple on the West Side for over 50 years.
