Eating well on a budget doesn’t have to mean buffets—and yes, the iconic Ponderosa on S. High St. is still kicking. And, yes, happy hour deals are a lifesaver, but that’s a story for another day. Today, I’m highlighting five incredible Columbus spots where you can feast without breaking the bank—any day, any time. Plus, I’m listing my top three picks at each spot. Let’s go!

Club 185 (185 E Livingston Ave) This spot has that old-school, everybody-knows-your-name feel—like you’re hanging out at your chill older relative’s place. The menu is packed with affordable hits that always deliver. My go-to picks: Double 185 Cheeseburger – $7.50, NY Reuben – $12.50, and the Beer Cheese Fries with Pot Roast – $10.00.

Pierogi Mountain (105 N Grant Ave) A charming dive bar vibe that’s been featured on Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. The food is ridiculously good, and the prices make it easy to order a feast. Here’s what I suggest: Pierogies – $2.50 each, Hungarian Poutine – $12, and the Beef Schnitzel Sandwich – $10.

Tula Taqueria (525 Lazelle Rd, Westerville) Just outside 270 near Polaris, this hidden gem never misses. The bright interior, natural light, and beautiful mural make it as inviting as the food that’s worth every penny. My top 3 picks: California Burrito – $9.00, Rolled Chicken Taquitos (5 pcs) – $7.00, and Mexican Street Tacos – $2.25-$3.00 each.

Loops (1629 Northwest Blvd) This Chicago-inspired spot is casual, welcoming, and decked out in Chicago sports decor. You might recognize it from Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives. My top picks: The Titan – $10.95 (A massive, loaded gyro.), Italian Beef (Dipped, obviously) – $11.25, and the Chili Cheese Fries – $7.50.

Tai’s Asian Bistro & Sushi (1285 W Lane Ave) A bright, spacious spot with tons of seating and massive portions that bring big flavor for a great price. Here’s what I recommend: General Tso’s Chicken – $13.95, Pho with Beef Meatballs & Flank Steak – $13.95, and the Chicken Fried Rice – $13.95.

Eating great in Columbus doesn’t have to cost a fortune—these spots prove that big flavors don’t need a big price tag. Got a go-to budget-friendly meal I should check out? Let me know!
