614 feast names his five favorite Columbus food trucks

Anthony O'Connell

It might still be early spring (and a bit chilly), but I’m ignoring the forecast and pretending it’s perfect out. Rain or shine, I’m hitting up food trucks to manifest warmer days. Thankfully, Columbus has plenty of delicious food truck options to choose from. Some stay put for easy repeat visits, while others travel all over the city, turning each stop into a mini adventure. Ready for a feast on wheels? Here are my top five Columbus food trucks:

Los Agavez Taqueria (3166 N High St) This truck serves some of the best Mexican food in Columbus. Their al pastor is a must-try: perfectly seasoned, spinning on a spit, so each thin slice of pork gets a crispy exterior and a tender, juicy interior. The pineapple on top adds just the right touch of sweetness. If you’re craving birria, theirs is some of the best in town, thanks to a thick, hearty consomé that truly sets it apart.

Texas Steele BBQ (1060 King Ave) All their smoked meats are great, but the brisket is the star of the show. The bark is flavorful, the meat is tender and juicy, and it definitely passes the bend test: a slice hangs perfectly over your finger without breaking or going stiff. And don’t leave without trying the five-cheese mac and cheese. It’s comfort food at its finest.

Little Italy Ristorante (all over central Ohio) Pizza party on wheels! Their brick-and-mortar location in Groveport has been serving authentic Italian fare since 1979, and the food truck brings that same deliciousness to you. Start with the fried cheese ravioli. Then go for a large pepperoni pizza (or at least a slice or two), made with a rich sauce, gooey cheese, and a perfectly crisp crust.

614 Fully Loaded (all over central Ohio) If you’re a potato lover, you’re in the right place. Choose your base: baked potato, fresh-cut fries, or deep-fried skins, then load it up with fresh toppings. Try the Chicken Bacon Ranch with grilled chicken, real bacon bits, and buttermilk ranch. Also try The Fresh Prince, loaded with steak, a melted provolone–mozzarella blend, sautéed peppers and onions, and a queso blanco drizzle.

Street Thyme Food Truck (multiple) Catch them at AOH on Wednesdays 5–9 p.m., and at Seventh Son on Thursdays 5–10 p.m., Fridays 12–3:45 p.m., and Saturdays 12–3 p.m. They’re serving seriously gourmet burgers out of this truck, with high-quality, perfectly seasoned beef. Pair your burger with their crispy, salty fries and you’ve got a winning combo.

Did I miss your favorite food truck? Where should I go next?
