614feast names the best cheesy bites in the city
Cheese is the ultimate team player. It stretches, melts, crisps, and dips its way into just about every cuisine. Cheese can be rich and creamy, sharp and salty, or gooey and comforting. It’s the key to success for almost every comfort food, levels up even the simplest snack, and honestly makes life a little better with every bite.
From huge mozzarella sticks to fries drowned in bier cheese, Columbus has no shortage of apps that prove everything really is better with cheese, and here are five of my favorite:
Gemüt Biergarten (734 Oak St)
Faire Frites are legendary loaded fries. Fries and bier cheese would already be a win, but Gemüt takes them further with caraway ranch, blue cheese crumbles, bacon bits, and chives. Every bite is rich, salty, and satisfying.
Gresso’s (961 S High St)
Gresso’s gigantic mozzarella sticks, they’re seriously huge. Their Extra Large handmade mozzarella sticks are battered, perfectly fried, and served with marinara on the side. Available in 2, 4, or 6 sticks, they’re large and in charge.

Chile Verde (1522 Gemini Pl)
Their Queso Salsa & Chips is creamy, melty, and loaded with green chiles, tomatoes, and spices. You can add chorizo or spicy ground beef, and I highly recommend the chorizo version. They give you a generous portion, and it adds even more flavor to the queso, the real star of the show.
North High Brewing (Multiple)
Here, the curd is the word. Their Cheese Curds are made from Wisconsin white cheddar, lightly breaded and fried until golden. They’re tasty on their own, but the house beer mustard and hot honey dipping sauces are what push these over the top.

Vick’s Gourmet Pizza (7345 E Main St, Reynoldsburg)
Cheesy garlic bread always hits, and at Vick’s it’s next-level. An Italian sub bun is slathered in garlic butter, topped with their house cheese blend, toasted until bubbly, and served with red sauce for dipping. Order the 8-inch or go big with the 12.
Did I miss your favorite cheesy appetizer? It’d be Gouda if you let me know in the comments so I can Brie prepared next time.
