614feast names the best fried rice in Columbus

Fried rice was my introduction to Chinese food. It was a simple stir fry from a neighborhood spot, but it was so flavorful and comforting that it felt truly special. To me, it all comes down to the rice itself. I want light, individual grains with the perfect balance of chewiness and tenderness. Fried rice is very customizable, but the add-ins should enhance the flavor, not drown it in sauce or turn it into a mushy mess. From traditional to outside the box, here are five of my favorite fried rice dishes in Columbus.
Chuan Jiang Hao Zi (496 Ackerman Rd)
Known for their bold and authentic Sichuan cuisine, this spot is packed with dishes that deliver serious flavor. But if you’re not in the mood for that mouth-tingling heat, go for the Chicken Fried Rice. The rice is perfectly cooked with just enough seasoning and soy sauce and a very generous helping of chicken.

Xi Xia Chinese Cuisine (multiple)
Famous for their hand-pulled noodles, Xi Xia is also serving some of the best fried rice in the city. Their Chicken Fried Rice is flavorful and filling, especially when I add bok choy and a soy egg to level it up. Don’t sleep on their rice dishes. They’re just as tasty as the noodles.
Sun Tong Luck Asian Cuisine (2500 Bethel Rd)
This Shrimp Fried Rice does not skimp on the shrimp. Packed full of shrimp and it’s loaded with fresh vegetables and egg. It’s consistently delicious, but the rice itself is the real star: it’s light, well-seasoned, and never soggy.
Tai’s Asian Bistro & Sushi (1285 W Lane Ave)
If you’re super hungry, this Chicken Fried Rice has your back. The portions are massive, easily enough for two or three meals, and it’s seasoned just right with fresh veggies and plenty of tender chicken. A solid comfort food choice every time.
Joya’s (657 High St, Worthington)
Everything here is amazing, while I’m usually here for the Joya’s Breakfast Sandwich or the Double Smash Burger, the Joya’s Fried Rice is one of the most flavor-packed dishes I’ve ever had. It comes loaded with chicken, bacon, wok-fried egg, charred peanut chili crisp, and rice crisps for a perfect blend of texture and heat.
Fried rice is nice, but if I missed your favorite bite, send me some advice so I can get it right.
