As if you’re not already sweating, we have the wings that will make your summer even hotter. Quite literally. If the wings are spicy enough, you might forget all about the humidity while your face melts off.

These are five of the hottest wings in town, and you’ll definitely want your blue cheese or ranch on the side. And if that’s not enough, some folks swear by bread, lemon, milk, or even ice cream to cool the fire.

Mean Mug Wings & Things (3780 W. Broad St.)
If your mouth is used to mild sauce, Mistress Pain will feel like you’re cheating with a hotter, meaner mistress. These wings are deep red, drenched in spicy sauce, and bring serious heat. Push through the pain and you’ll find real flavor underneath the fire.

Atlas Tavern (8944 Lyra Dr.)
Ready to meet the Reaper? Choose your style: Reaper Buffalo or Reaper BBQ. I go for the Buffalo. Made with Carolina Reaper peppers, which can hit over 2 million on the Scoville scale, the heat on these wings build fast and don’t let up. If you’re chasing that endorphin rush, this one brings the heat.

Mac’s Proper Pub (693 N. High St.)
The No Refund Hot chicken wings have an intimidating name and they live up to it. You get a full pound, coated in fiery peppers that don’t mess around. The first wing hits hard, and by the third, you might be sweating, questioning everything (or loving every second of it). Celery and blue cheese are included and they’re your lifeline here.

The Thurman Cafe (183 Thurman Ave.)
Everyone knows The Thurmanator, but don’t sleep on the wings. Their hottest sauce is called Extreme and it’s listed at 183,000 BTUs. Not sure if they meant Scoville units or if it’s just a cheeky joke, but either way, these wings bring serious heat with plenty of flavor to back it up.

The Filling Station Bar & Grill (8765 Smoky Row Rd., Powell)
Their 911 wings rank in my top three spiciest of all time. The name fits… these things are so hot, you might consider calling for help. Made with ghost peppers and habaneros, they’re fiery, flavorful, and absolutely worth the pain.

These are five of my favorite fiery wings in Columbus. If you’ve got a hotter lead or a spot that nearly lit your face on fire, drop it in the comments. I’m always chasing the next burn.
