After seven years, local spot for smoothie bowls, boba, announces closing

After seven years in business and two central Ohio locations, The Garden Bar Cafe at 4009 Broadway, Grove City has announced its permanent closure. Known for boxed lunches with hand-written motivational quotes, smoothie bowls, and boba tea, The Garden Bar has become a lunchtime go-to for Columbus-area businesses and locals alike.

Via an Instagram post on January 30th, 2025, the owner announced the decision to close the cafe after thanking the community for their support:

“I have chosen to close the cafe permanently. I appreciate each of our customers and catering clients so much. Your support over the years has been amazing. I’ve been so blessed to have had the opportunity to serve our community and the Columbus area.”

Social media comments were filled with businesses saying they will miss ordering catered lunches, and customers mourning the loss of their beloved chicken salad sandwiches and brownie bites. Personally, I will miss their Buckeye smoothie bowl and breakfast sandwich!

The Garden Bar previously closed their secondary Hilliard location on Fishinger Blvd in 2024, but an official closing date for their main location hasn’t yet been announced. We were unable to reach The Garden Bar by phone to confirm a final closing date, and their website appears to have been shut down.
