An African coffee house is coming soon to Central Ohio

In the same way that Qahwah Coffee House and Qamaria Yemeni Coffee Co. brought the unique flavors of Yemen to Columbus, a new concept will do the same with Somalia.

East African Coffee House, a new concept offering Somalian coffee and tea drinks, will hold its soft opening on June 28, from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. It’s located at 4359 Morse Rd. in Gahanna.

The new spot offers a variety of Somalian drinks, including a tea known as shaah that’s flavored with cardamon, clove, cinnamon and ginger. It will also offer single-origin Ethiopian coffee–which it describes as “the birthplace of coffee itself”–as well as Somali qahwah, which is made from coffee husks and infused with spices.

East African Coffee House will also serve original lattes, African pastries and more.
