Anticipated Asian street food concept from local restaurateur opens in Columbus
This new restaurant couldn’t have opened at a more perfect time, with the temperatures cooling and all of us craving more soup.
Hey Broth, now open at 1810 W. Henderson Rd., features–you guessed it–broth-based dishes made with 32 ingredients and cooked for hours. The concept focuses on fresh vegetables, meat, seafood, and noodles cooked in one of the three homemade broths (their hot pot method) or cooked in a pan (their Mongolian BBQ-style method).
“We’re trying to change perceptions of Asian food,” said owner Zheng “Roy” Xu in a press release. Xu also owns Eastern Bay Chinese Restaurant, which has been around for over 20 years. “There’s a whole lot to explore in Asian cuisine.”

Here’s how it works: Customers put their chosen ingredients in a bowl and have them weighed at the counter. The price is $14.95 per pound for hot pot and $16.95 per pound for “dry pot.” The next step is in the kitchen, where the ingredients are lowered into one of three broths—bone, tomato or spicy mala. The other option is having the meal cooked in a wide pan. The entire process only takes about five minutes!
Guests can choose from a number of items like napa cabbage, shrimp, pasta, mushrooms, snow peas, dumplings, clams, shrimp, noodles and New York strip, teriyaki chicken, and much more. And of course, top it all off with sesame sauces, chili sauces, sriracha, chopped cilantro, fresh garlic, and more.
Hey Broth is open 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. six days a week, and closed Tuesday.
