Award-winning BBQ concept abruptly closes two locations, announces closure of third too
“An hour before going in for my shift, I got notified,” said one employee of this award-winning BBQ restaurant. “We should have had a warning.”
Last evening, an employee at Ray Ray’s new Johnstown location, which opened in late August of this year, posted on Facebook, “Just a heads up Johnstown…..Ray Ray’s closed their doors today! Told all their employees via group chat at 3pm……From all of the J-town staff, thank you to all of you that supported us and became regulars. We appreciate you all so much.” This new Ray Ray’s location featured a full service restaurant and bar, located at 49 ½ E. Main St., in the former Ghostwriter Public House, which also closed this year.

Ray Ray’s posted on Facebook that not only did the Johnstown location close, but they closed their new Marion location yesterday as well, which opened just a few months ago in May. And, they said their Linworth location is on the chopping block, too, later this month.
“This change allows us to refocus on what we do best—serving award-winning BBQ quickly to the people who love it most. We want to put our full energy into the locations you know and love, continuing to create the flavors, experiences, and memories that make our BBQ special,” said Ray Ray’s announcement.
Their locations in Maxtown, Clintonville, Granville, and Land-Grant will remain open.
They continued, “We are so grateful for your support over the years and for all the moments we have shared at all of our locations. It has been an honor to serve these communities, and we are excited to create new memories with you at our Columbus and Granville locations, where we will continue to bring the smoke, the flavor, and the hospitality you have come to expect!
