Bakery + bistro abruptly closes; ‘We just couldn’t make it work’

In May of 2024, a gorgeous bakery and bistro opened in a historic building, serving globally inspired pastries and meals.

A little over a year later, and Cocinamos, located at 3 W. Winter St. in Downtown Delaware, has decided to close their doors.

“We have dedicated ourselves to serving delicious food in a beautiful setting, and taking care of our customers and our staff. We just couldn’t make it work,” they announced yesterday on Facebook. “So now we focus on taking care of ourselves and our family, who sorely missed us during this venture. We are no longer open for business. Thank you for your support!”

Their post garnered over 600 “likes” and over 200 comments on Facebook. “Delaware is losing a little jewel. Thank you for your vision for a lovely destination experience. Best wishes,” said one comment. “Please let this be an April Fools joke! We were just there last weekend and everything was so good. The people, place, and food were what Delaware needed. Glad we got the chance to experience it,” said another.
