Beloved Short North restaurant closing after six years
“When we first opened, the line was out the door. Then, COVID hit, and that line never came back,” said this dedicated restaurant owner.
Megan Ada, owner of Ampersand Asian Supper Club in The Short North, said she kept telling herself that steady business would return. “But it’s now been six years,” she said. “Our little engine that could, ran out of gas.”

It’s not an easy decision for her, or her husband who’s the chef of the restaurant, but they’ve decided to close Ampersand’s Short North location at 940 N. High St. September 21 will be their last day serving noodles, rice bowls, and delicious small plates for lunch and dinner.
“We’ve spent many nights crying over the money we’ve lost,” Ada said. “But you have to make these hard decisions.”
Ampersand has gained plenty of regulars, and if those regulars are up for a drive, they can visit the Westerville location which boasts the same menu, “and free parking,” laughed Ada.
