Bygone beloved Columbus bar reopening next year under a Dirty Franks

In 2017, a popular campus dive bar’s fate was in the hands of Ohio State’s development branch, resulting in its closure for…you guessed it…more apartments.

“They thought they could take our business and bully us off campus…but all they did was create a monster that built four more just like us, on High Street,” said Threes Above High’s Instagram account.

Threes Above High posted on Instagram last week a nostalgic throwback video of Too’s Under High, a basement dive bar that was as iconic as ever. When Too’s was forced to close, owner Scott Ellsworth created Threes Above High, Fours on High, and Fives Up High, but always promised he’d resurrect the original Too’s.

And now, the time has come, 9 years after the bar’s initial demolition.

Too’s Under High (which will be renamed Twos Under High) is reopening at 2036 N. High St. sometime in 2026, in the basement of the campus Dirty Frank’s. “We promised ourselves we’d be back in a glorious basement under High Street and in 2026 we’re going to rock your f***ing worlds, with promises kept,” said their announcement.
