Celebrity-backed burger chain closes 79 locations nationwide
A celebrity not only known for his movies, but also his car dealerships and burger ventures has closed a majority of his family’s burger restaurants.
Wahlburgers, founded by actor Mark Wahlberg and his brothers Donnie and Paul, has closed 79 locations this year alone. According to Eat This, Not That!, “Customers are critical of the price and quality of the food, and complain about inconsistency depending on location.

A huge contributor to these mass closings is that a 2017 franchise agreement between Hy-Vee grocery stores and Wahlburgers has ended. The Wahlburgers kiosks inside of Hy-Vee stores have closed.
Now, there are only 34 Wahlburgers restaurants left in operation, including one at the Hollywood Casino here in Columbus.
