Central Ohio brewery makes it on ‘New York Post’ and ‘Fox News’ for their controversial policy
The “kids at breweries” debate has been hot lately. The New York Times wrote an article about breweries becoming a hub for families, and how the owners of breweries didn’t really intend for this to happen.
While some breweries in town, such as Gemüt Biergarten, have a designated play space for children, other breweries are making it very, very clear—”this is not us,” said Eastside Brewing Company, located in Reynoldsburg, who announced they’re banning children on their premises after 7 p.m.

Their message was never intended to go viral, or to offend any families whatsoever. “It’s not that we don’t like kids. We manufacture alcohol,” Eastside’s statement reads. “Our thoughts about production, marketing, the ambiance, are all geared toward providing this product for our customers to enjoy. We have created an environment that appeals to adults.”
Major news outlets such as New York Post and Fox News caught wind of the brewery’s statement, most likely because many establishments aren’t as outright about their child policy.
New York Post said that the brewery claimed that the new policy has prompted some customers to call the owner “a d—head, an a–hole and a child hater, among others.”
On both Fox News and NYP, hundreds of comments were left by national and international readers, mostly all in favor of Eastside Brewing child-free policy after 7 p.m. Many of them said they were parents themselves, and as @fiveanddime075 put it, “It is a BAR. Bars are not for kids.”
Stop into Eastside Brewing every day besides Monday. And if it’s past 7 p.m…well, leave the kids at home.
