Report: Columbus BBQ concept files for bankruptcy after closing several locations
Last month, the owner of one of Columbus’ favorite BBQ restaurants turned to the community for help. James Beard Award semi-finalist, James Anderson, posted on Facebook, asking people to support his restaurant, Ray Ray’s.
Not even a week later, and Ray Ray’s Hog Pit announced that three of their restaurants would be closing in Linworth, Johnstown, and Marion.

And now, Ray Ray’s has officially filed for Chapter 11 Bankruptcy, according to Nation’s Restaurant News. In its Chapter 11 petition, the company listed assets of about $265,000 and liabilities of $1.26 million.
It’s unclear if Ray Ray’s will close anymore restaurants, as bankruptcy doesn’t aways mean closure. As of now, their remaining restaurants are still open!
Ray Ray’s was founded in 2009 and became an instant hit here in town, starting as a BBQ food truck to then opening full-service restaurants. The concept was even featured in Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives on Food Network in 2017.
