Columbus cheesecake concept announces first-ever standalone location
A popular cheesecake spot that has quickly grown from pop-up to East Market staple is putting down roots as a standalone brick and mortar.
According to a social media post from The Bearded Baker, the cheesecakes concept is preparing to open its first brick and mortar storefront. It will be located at 2918 E. Main St.
The opening date of the new location wasn’t shared, but The Bearded Baker will remain in operation at The East Market until June 18.

Headed by Columbus restaurant veteran Matt Estep, the dessert vendor traces his roots back to his days as sous chef at Gallo’s Kitchen on Olentangy River Road in 2014, when the restaurant’s intended ice cream for an evening wasn’t available. Instead, Estep pivoted to cheesecake on the spot (he had never made the dessert by himself before), and learned that people loved it.
You can check out the entire story of the concept’s background here.
A Butcher & Grocer employee in the early days of the East Market, Estes eventually took over a portion of the butcher shop’s former market space in late 2022 as The Bearded Baker.
