Columbus coffee roaster brings home two medals from largest international roasting competition

If you know them, you love them. And if you don’t know them by now…well, what are you doing this weekend?
Stop into Royal Flamingo’s coffee shop, located inside Natalie’s Grandview at 945 King Ave. to try some of the world’s best coffee. No, we’re not exaggerating – Royal Flamingo recently took home two bronze medals from the world’s largest roasting competition.
This Columbus-based specialty coffee roaster medaled in two of the three categories entered, and won bronze for filter coffee and espresso with milk using their roast, Enigma Hops.
You can buy bags of Enigma Hops starting Saturday, March 1st at their cafe, or enjoy a pour-over of it, or a shot of espresso, or even an espresso-based drink. If you can’t make it in, you can order online here.

“We easily sampled more than 50 different coffees, roasts, and blends over the last few months to find the right coffees — but kept coming back to Enigma Hops,” says co-founder and roaster Bryan Brzozowski. “This one just hit differently. It’s the kind of coffee that stops you in your tracks. Jumps up and forces you to pay attention in the best possible way. Plus, competing with Edwin Noreña’s coffee again was an absolute treat (we won gold with his CM Red Fruits in 2023).”
The award-winning micro-roaster with roots in Columbus was launched by husband-and-wife duo Bryan and Beth Brzozowski back in 2021. Since then, they’ve won multiple international awards and opened their own coffee shop. They supply beans for many other cafes, such as The Lion in Bexley, Bake Me Happy, Third Way Cafe, Cafe Overlook, and Grandview Grind. Congrats, yet again, Royal Flamingo!
